Faqs About Renting a Car in Dubai
What documents do I need to rent a muscle car in Dubai?
For residents, an Emirates ID or a Residential Visa and the UAE’s driving license are usually enough. For tourists, a valid passport, a visit visa with an entry stamp, and a driver’s licence with an International Driving Permit are required. Additionally, you usually need to meet the age minimum of 24 years. and have a minimum of 1 year of driving experience. You will also be asked to provide a banking card for the security deposit.
Is a deposit mandatory, and what are no-deposit options?
There are car options that don’t require a deposit and still have all the benefits of a car rental, including basic insurance and 24/7 support. However, if a standard or reduced deposit is stated in the contract, then it needs to be provided and will be refunded within 30 days after returning the car. The deposit may be used to cover the fines, Salik toll charges, refueling, excessive mileage, or any damage to the vehicle. We recommend opting for a security block through credit card pre-authorization, as the block will be automatically released by the bank.
How does insurance work for tourists?
Basic insurance (third-party liability and basic collision coverage) is included in the rental price, but you can purchase additional comprehensive insurance for extra protection. An excess (deductible) is the maximum amount you would pay out of pocket in the event of damage, such as a scratch, dent, or minor accident, before insurance covers the rest. For example, if the repair costs AED 7,000 and your excess is AED 3,000, you’ll pay only that AED 3,000, and insurance covers the remaining AED 4,000. Tourists need a valid International Driving Permit to rent a car in the UAE, unless their national licence is accepted in the Emirates. Tourists are not allowed to drive off-road, leave the emirate without informing the rental, or have other drivers than the one stated in the rental contract; otherwise, they will face a fee. In case of a breakdown or any other emergency, contact the car rental immediately using the 24/7 customer support.
Where are the best places to drive in Dubai?
Dubai is made for driving a luxurious muscle car — from grand Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Fahidi, or Al Wasl to spectacular Dubai Marina, the routes are numerous. Just choose one that fits your mood at the moment, whether you feel like roaming the city boulevards and visiting opulent sights, or having a rewind at the waterfront, or reconnecting with nature in the majestic desert. Although the cars are all equipped with top air conditioning systems, try to avoid the heat of the day; therefore, the best time to have a drive is in the morning or an hour before sunset. At this time, the world-famous Burj Khalifa is at its best. Mind the city speed limits, parking fees, and toll charges when driving.
